IDEAS Social Innovation Challenge is MIT’s 20+ year-old annual social entrepreneurship program housed in the MIT PKG Public Service Center. Since its founding in 2001, IDEAS has enabled MIT student-led teams to apply their education and expertise in collaboration with community partners to address social and environmental challenges around the world. Through this program that culminates to an annual showcase and awards ceremony, teams learn to develop creative solutions in partnership with communities. Teams also benefit from a supportive body of reviewers, mentors, and funding up to $20,000 to further their efforts with affected stakeholders. Over 200 awarded IDEAS teams have implemented innovative service projects in 44 countries, impacting hundreds of thousands of lives. These teams have secured more than $65 million in additional funding.
